About Me

Hi I'm Katy.

I'm not always the best with words, but I like to write what I feel.  I also enjoy connecting with family and friends who are near or far away.

Sometimes I wonder if I am crazy, or just overly dramatic, but then I realize that I just live my life to the fullest.  I am a devout Mormon living in Nashville, Tennessee, and I am married to Nathan, the cutest man I know. We've been married since March 2009 and plan on staying together, for well, eternity.

Nathan is working on his PhD in electrical engineering right now at Vanderbilt University.  Most of what he says when talking about his work is complete gibberish to me, but I am happy that he loves it and that it will someday pay the bills.

We have one little girl who was born in July 2011. Her name is Evelyn, and she is definitely the center of attention around here.  She is a precocious little girl with lots of very curly blond hair and a love of Minnie Mouse and Winnie the Pooh. We want to have more precocious little children, but only time will tell when that will happen.

I used to be a high school biology teacher before we moved to Tennessee.  I love anything relating to life science. I carry around a plant identification book most of the time since we moved here, and I am thoroughly enjoying exploring this new environment.

I love nature and the outdoors.  I love to take scenic drives, and always stop to inspect interesting rock formations, birds nests, or especially poky looking cacti.  I love to take walks with Nathan around our neighborhood and insist on him smelling flowers with me, or run our hands over a particularly well-manicured lawn.

I grow lots of plants in my house and collect silver rings with semi-precious stones in them. I am in love with being a housewife. I adore cooking and have been told that all of my food is excellent.  I love to try new ingredients and am frequently buying something unfamiliar just to find out how to use it.

Please feel free to read all about my life on this blog.
